Team Update 1st Feb 2013

Only 161 days to go…

What have we been doing since the last update? Well Ian has been organising the next Quiz Night in Karratha (WA) which will take place on the 9^th of March – more on this as things firm up.

We are undergoing visits to the doctors to get our inoculations up to date, way too many needles…

Our car guru Graham has been offered a couple of Nissan Micra’s in our price range, but not quite to the spec we want, so he is busy hunting down the right car.

We continue our quest to find sponsorship for the Rally. Not easy when Companies are doing well, let alone when whole countries are in depression, which almost rules out finding Sponsorship from the UK, so we concentrate our efforts on the Australian Market.

NUMBERS

Some numbers on the rally:

Ladies make up 17.2% of team members on the Rally.

28 different countries are represented including Mexico, Bahrain and Singapore.

UK, USA & Australia being the largest three nationalities

67 is the age of the oldest London to Mongolia Rallier
Ralliers over 50 = 16
Ralliers 40-49 =    25
Ralliers 35-39 =    25
Ralliers 30-34 =    78
Ralliers 25-29 =    115
Ralliers 20-24 =   135
Ralliers under 20 = 24

Goes to show that for most people with age you gain more common sense, and a healthy respect for ‘safety’...

 

And finally, we have sold 3438 chocolates – most going to the Perth Office….

The PMH Bear by Night Ball

Brilliant news.......Bristow Helicopters Australia have kindly agreed to fund a table at the annual PMH Bear by Night Ball which takes place in Perth on March 16th. Proceeds from table sales go to the PMH Foundation.

Quick Update with the Cars

Graham Godley-McAvoy, owner of Motomotive Ltd based near Plymouth, Devon in the UK has very kindly offerred to assist the teams locate and prepare the cars for the Rally.

Now to shift the Christmas Excess

Help the ‘fat’ wombat…………………for charity of course! 

My wife would not normally run for the bus………….however for charity has chosen to do a 5km run in February, (see details below)……………..So, would you like to help one of “The Wombat’s” by sponsoring her per kilometre she completes (you should be quite safe, lots of weight gained over the Christmas break!!!)

I along with Anika Hoffman and Jo Francois will also take part in the run and will ensure that my wife doesn’t pass out, fall in a ditch, stop for food or a kip, or take a short cut….. 

P.s. My wife openly admits she is as “fit as a potato cake” so I am not offending the unfit Wombat!!!

Christmas Wish

As we enter the festive season we thought we would remind everyone of our primary aim with the rally.

Whilst we welcome the challenge and the adventure, we want to raise as much money as we can for the PMH Foundation. The Children’s hospital gives hope to families with children with serious illnesses.

Quiz Night Number 2

RSL

On the 9th MARCH 2013 we are planning our second ‘Quiz’ Night.

This event will be held at the Karratha and Districts RSL in Karratha (WA).

The RSL have kindly agreed not to charge us for the hire of the club, meaning more will go to the PMH Foundation. Not only that the RSL have also offered to cover the Extended Trading Permit at no cost to the Teams. 

Many thanks to the Karratha and Districts RSL for their kindness and helping us reach our charity goal.

 

Tickets will go on sale in the New Year.
